Small Teams

Vempathy’s software was originally built for UX designers and product managers building software on small, cross-functional teams to speed up the user research process.

Enterprise User Research Teams

Vempathy’s software has evolved to also support enterprise user research teams by allowing them to conduct research at scale. The days of conducting just tens of user interviews or usability tests are over; now research teams can record hundreds of users and use Vempathy’s automated qualitative and quantitative research summarization to broaden the reach of their research activities.

Vempathy detects emotions using a range of different indicators and proprietary analysis algorithms. Our artificial intelligence systems identify different emotions by analyzing data points including facial expressions, tone of voice, and sentiment of speech. By leveraging the expertise from years of research and algorithm iterations we are able to provide the highest level of accuracy.

Vempathy’s emotion detection technologies are far more accurate than existing systems. Vempathy’s algorithms were developed using years of proven emotion detection research, which allows us to identify user emotions with a high degree of accuracy.

Our competitors provide world-class recording software. We provide next generation recording software with coupled emotion analysis. This allows you and your team to:

  • Streamline the qualitative user research review process with cutting edge emotion analysis that helps you identify the most important moments.
  • Conduct more user research with high level emotion insights.
  • Share findings with your entire team using our unique automated highlight reel video processing.

There are a number of other benefits that artificial intelligence provides in the user research process. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.

Our emotion metric is the variance of emotions, where 100 is positive and 0 is negative.

For your interpretation we recommend comparing within the study. If a task is given a 40 average emotion rating that is based on an evaluation from millions of data points in an emotion database, but for your analysis you can compare with those averages of each other task to figure out which was a more positive or negative experience.

Relaxed – Lack of emotion and expressiveness. Neutral face without any facial expressions.
Disappointed – Sad or displeased because something has failed to meet expectations. Frowning, with both lip corners pulled downwards.
Angry – Anger is evoked due to injustice, conflict, humiliation, negligence, or betrayal. If anger is active, the individual attacks the target, verbally or physically. If anger is passive, the person silently sulks and feels tension and hostility. Indicated by the brows furrowed, and the lips tightened and pressed.
Relaxed – An affective response to perceived service quality.
Fearful – Fear is a response to impending danger. It is a survival mechanism that is triggered as a reaction to some negative stimulus. Fear can be a mild caution or an extreme phobia. Indicated by the eyebrows raised and the mouth opened.
Happy – Joy (or happiness) has shades of enjoyment, satisfaction, and pleasure. Joy brings a sense of well-being, inner peace, love, safety, and contentment. May be indicated by smiling, mouth opened and both eyes opened. Showing personal enthusiasm and interest.
Sad – Sadness indicates a feeling of loss and disadvantage. When a person is quiet, less energetic, and withdrawn, it can be inferred that they feel sadness. Regarded as an unpleasant passive emotion.
Grimace – Defined as feeling annoyed and irritable.
Unamused – This is being merged with our “Angry” emotion.
